When I first got my Mac, it changed my life forever. It inspired me to become a designer and dedicate myself to creative things. Now, everything I do is on a Mac and without it, I don’t know where I would be.
Whenever I get the chance, I promote the Macintosh and Apple brands. They deserve it. I think of myself as a young Apple evangelist.
Being the proud owner of a Mac is not just a distinction, but for most it’s a way of life. If you have ever seen the film MacHeads, you know what I mean. We worship Mac’s in a non-religious, but religious type way. One even testified that it inspired her to become an artist again. For me, it’s kept me an artist filled with new ideas.
Look at a company like Microsoft. What do you see? For sure, you don’t see people going crazy over their products. You also don’t see people turning the company into a religion like Apple fans do with Apple.
Apple is more than just a computer company in many ways. When Apple introduced the first iPod, they took the ‘Computer’ part off of their name. Many people thought this was the end of the Mac era, but there were always those few who knew it wasn’t.
As I sit here writing this on my shiny, new iPad, flashbacks of good times with my Mac are running through my mind. I currently have a 20” Aluminum iMac, 2 2nd gen iPod Touches, an iPod Nano, iPod Shuffle and of course an iPad. I will soon be getting a MacBook Pro. Having Apple products in my house is something I’m proud of and it makes my house look good, too.
I loving sharing with people the love I have for Apple, the Macintosh in particular. One of my favorite ways of doing this is through writing, Sure, I have my own blog, but imagine having a dedicated blog just for Macintosh, written all by me.
That is going to become reality in the very near future. I am currently working with some great people to get this blog launched and started. So that means stay tuned to this blog for updates and soon the launch!
Some photos while at the Apple Store looking at the iPad.
I finally was able to make a visit to my local Apple store today! Guess what I saw? The iPad. Of course. I am more impressed then what I ever thought I would be! The graphics on this device are picture-perfect amazing! I played one of the HD games that Apple had pre-loaded on the device, and I felt like I was actually there. As far as iPhone apps go, they look good on the device, but a bit larger than life. All the main apps like Safari, Mail, iPod, App Store, and iBooks all were very impressive. All these load super quick and feel like a cross between the iPhone and Mac counterparts of the software. The iBooks app was also very impressive. Sleek page turning was key, and that requirement was met. The bookshelf was very organized and felt well laid out. Movie watching on the iPad is an experience you don’t want to miss. The sound on the iPad is stellar. For only 3 little speakers, these are better than the ones in most PCs. The movies play in stellar quality, as well. This is a product I really am interested in, now that I got to touch it. I think this is what I will be asking for as a birthday present. What about you? Are you interested in this product? Tell me.
That’s right. The Kindle is probably the biggest competitor to the iPad, and is now a partner of the iPad. Apple has approved Amazon’s Kindle app for the iPad. So, if the lack of books from the iBookstore is holding you back from buying the iPad, think again. Now, you have all of Amazon’s eBooks available on the iPad as well.
One of the reasons I wanted to get an iPad was the iBookstore, but the lack of books was holding me back from getting one. Also, I never buy 1G devices anyway. But when the 2G comes out, I want my hands on one immediately. Now that I know I can have all my Amazon eBooks, my life with the iPad will be much more enjoyable.
In my opinion, the Kindle app is actually better than the actual iBookstore app. Why? One of the major features I wanted in the iBookstore was highlighting and note-taking. The Kindle app sports those features, and Apple surprisingly does not.
Also, Apple isn’t the only one sporting the fancy page turn animations, the Kindle app does that, too.
When I was typing the title of this article, my computer underlined the word iPad in red. I guess this means it is time to add the word ‘iPad’ to the dictionary. Today is the release day for the iPad all around the US. My RSS feeds are already filled with two days worth of content in just a few hours - all pertaining to the iPad!
I will be going to the Apple Store today just to see the new iPad, but I will not be getting one. Unless, someone would like to sponsor me in getting one? I’m pretty sure that won’t happen. What I’ve always been told is to never buy the first generation of anything. I agree with that statement, because usually the price is lowered and features are greater.
I am very excited that the iPad has now arrived. Today, my blog and pretty much anyone else’s that care about Apple will be filled with iPad coverage. I will be taking some pictures, and will revisit next week (when it’s not so busy) to take some video.
If you just happen to be getting an iPad, feel free to post a picture response of you with your iPad below.
The iPad is coming out tomorrow, April 3. Have you pre-ordered one? Or are you waiting to go see one tomorrow to see if you actually want to pull $500 out of your pocket (at least!).
For me, I am waiting to purchase one, as I don’t think I would get much use of it. I am also waiting for the 2G version. What about you?
